This style of painting can only be called expressionist because it doesn't faithfully represent the subject, instead it is an interpretation of how a vase of sunflowers might look to the imaginative eye. It has mood, atmosphere, yet it is not outside. These are sunflowers that I grew, and the vase was made by my daughter Marenka.
